Together, we achieved something incredible.

The generosity of Queenslanders was on full display on Wednesday 10 June as the RBWH Foundation's annual Giving Day raised a staggering $756,450 - funds that our dedicated hospital teams will use to develop and deliver world-leading care.

Throughout the day, staff, patients, supporters, volunteers, ambassadors and corporate partners came together championing innovation, research and better patient outcomes across RBWH, STARS and the wider Herston Health Precinct.
RBWH Foundation Chief Executive Officer Simone Garske thanked everyone who played a role in making Giving Day 2026 such a huge success.

“We are overwhelmed by the support of this incredible community!” said Simone Garske.

“Watching the Giving Day tally rise is incredibly exciting, but nowhere near as thrilling as what happens next – the patients and families given hope for better healing and a brighter future, because of you.

“Our huge thanks to everyone who donated to the campaign, but most importantly to the teams on the frontline who show up every day, giving their best to each and every one of us. We’re proud to stand with them, funding research and patient care programs shaped at the bedside - the improvements they believe will make the greatest difference.”

The day began with the return of Channel Seven’s Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac, who broadcast live from the RBWH and shared powerful stories highlighting the real-world impact of donor support.

In the Giving Day phone room, a host of famous faces – including 2026 Winter Paralympian Georgia Gunew and 2024 Paralympian and RBWH traumatic brain injury patient Alexa Leary – were on hand to connect with generous donors, helping drive the tally higher with every call.

And ambassadors from a range of sporting codes were delighted to visit wards across RBWH and STARS, bringing a little Giving Day magic to patients and hospital teams.

Standing alongside those big names were the countless staff members who baked, volunteered, shared stories and helped bring the day to life, powering the RBWH Foundation through to its incredible fundraising result.

The money raised at Giving Day enables teams from RBWH, STARS and the Institutes and Research Centres across the Herston Health Precinct to design and deliver specialist patient care innovations and undertake cutting-edge medical research – shaping the future of healthcare in Queensland.
