The RBWH Foundation is the charity arm of the Royal Brisbane & Women´s Hospital – Queensland’s largest hospital and the largest teaching hospital in the Southern Hemisphere. The Foundation´s primary purpose is to raise money to purchase vital pieces of equipment and to fund world-class clinical research conducted at the Hospital.

Support cancer research at the RBWH
Our 2009 Winter Appeal is now underway raising money clinical research at the RBWH, particularly in the area of cancer. The RBWH is the home of the largest Cancer Care Service in Queensland, and the hospital also plays an active role in cancer research, particularly in the areas of bowel, lung, ovarian, prostate and brain cancers.

Register now for the 2009 Royal Run for Research
The 22nd Annual Royal Run for Research, proudly supported by Rebel Sport, is being held on Sunday 12 July to raise money for clinical research at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. You can either take part in the 8km run or the 6km walk and there are stacks of great prizes, with $2,500 worth of Rebel Sport vouchers to be won, and a free breakfast for everyone who takes part. Royal Mums tribute book now on sale
The Foundation´s beautifully presented 300-page book, Royal Mums: A Collection of Memories (Volume 1), is now on sale. This book features a collection of over 730 stories and memories of having children at the Royal over the past 70 years. All 14,500 plus names of registered Royal Mums are also featured in a special Honour Roll at the back of the book.

2010 Research Grant Awards
Applications are now open for the 2010 RBWH Foundation Research Grant Awards in the categories of Strategic Research Initiative Grants, Nursing Research Initiative Grants and Post-Doctoral Fellowships. Thirty four grants were presented in 2009 to various researchers and medical practicioners based at the Royal Brisbane & Women´s Hospital.

Royal Mums Honour Wall unveiled
After 12 months of collecting Royal Mum registrations, the RBWH Foundation officially unveiled its Royal Mum Honour Wall on Friday 8 May 2009. This wall pays tribute to all mums who have had a baby at the Royal Brisbane & Women´s Hospital since it first opened in 1938, but to have your name included on the Wall you must first register as a Royal Mum (as hospital records cannot be accessed).

New discovery to aid unborn babies
Scientists at the Royal Brisbane & Women´s Hospital have made an important breakthrough in understanding how thyroid hormone is delivered from a mother to her unborn baby during pregnancy.
