Focused Cardiac Ultrasound Training – TOE


Focused Cardiac Ultrasound (FCU) is a focused examination of the cardiovascular system performed by a physician by using ultrasound as an adjunct to the physical examination to recognize specific ultrasonic signs that represent a narrow list of potential diagnoses in specific clinical settings.

This program is convenient, affordable, and easily accessible to all hospital staff.  Workshops are conducted in the newly developed Centre for Excellence and Innovation in Anaesthesia located within the Department of Anaesthesia at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.




The FCU course comprises of four components:

1. E-Learning package

2. Three-hour hands-on workshop

3. 10 Self-directed case studies on the CAE Vimedix echo simulator

4. Assessment and Completion

Program cost incorporates access to all online materials, workshop, self-directed simulator case studies, and certificate on completion.
